The Long Beach Harbour Commission has approved a key channel dredging project after concluding an environmental review process.
The Port of Long Beach and the federal government will share the costs, estimated at almost US$170m, with the port’s portion estimated at US$109m.
Among other features, the project includes deepening the Long Beach Approach Channel from 76 ft to 80 ft dee and easing turning bends in the Main Channel to deepen a wider area to 76 ft.
