Mitsui E&S Machinery (MES-M) has delivered four near-zero emission (NZE) rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes to NYK Tokyo Container Terminal, which is looking to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
The environmental target from operators NYK Line and UNI-X NCT Corporation (UNI-X) implies converting all cargo handling equipment at the terminal to Zero-Emission equipment.
The initiative aligns with the carbon neutral port concept promoted by Japan´s ministry of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions at ports.
