Port of Antwerp-Bruges has become the first maritime port to introduce the Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certificate for the distribution of pharmaceuticals in order to abide by the guidelines throughout the logistics chain.
The guidelines, which detail the required specific handling of pharmaceutical products, form the basis for a certificate issued by internationally renowned certification organisation SGS.
These guidelines were previously issued Port of Antwerp-Bruges for deep-sea cargo and port logistics of temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products are based on global WHO standards, with a specific focused on Europe and a translation to the maritime sector.
