The US Department of Transportation (DoT) has announced more than US$703m of funding for 41 projects that aim to improve port facilities and add supply chain resilience.
Through the Maritime Administration’s Port Infrastructure Development Programme (PDIP), the funding is meant to benefit coastal seaports, Great Lakes ports, and inland river ports.
It is hoped that the projects will help to improve supply chain reliability through increased port capacity and resilience, more efficient operations, reduced port emissions, and new workforce opportunities.
