Hapag-Lloyd delivered an EBITDA of US$16.6bn in the first nine months of the year, more than double the figure for the same period in 2021, due to higher freight rates, although the market environment is now weakening.
The improvement was driven by a 62% jump in the average freight rate of US$2,938 per teu, helping revenue rise by 78% to US$28.4bn.
The first nine months were significantly marked by disruptions in the global supply chains, which resulted in longer turnaround times for ships and containers.
