Maersk Line, Limited (MLL) has settled a lawsuit filed by a former US Merchant Marine Academy student who claimed she was raped while working on the company’s ship when she was 19 years old.
Attorneys for both Hope Hicks, a former midshipman on the MLL ship Alliance Fairfax, and the wholly-owned US-based vessel operator of A.P. Moller-Maersk have agreed that neither side will disclose details of their agreement.
Hicks stated: “It is important to me that my case has brought greater awareness of the issue of sexual assault and harassment at sea.
