MSC Group has completed the acquisition of Bolloré Africa Logistics, comprising all of the Bolloré Group transport and logistics activities in Africa, on the basis of a €5.7bn (US$6bn) enterprise value.
The sale price of the shares is €5.1bn (US$5.4bn) while €600m (US$640m) of shareholder loans were also repaid for the business, which includes operations in 16 container terminal concessions (Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, Togo, Guinea-Conakry, etc), seven roll-on roll-off (ro-ro) terminals, two wood terminals and a river terminal, plus a conventional stevedoring activity.
MSC reiterated that it will operate Bolloré Africa Logistics Group as an autonomous entity with its portfolio of diversified partners, under a new brand to be unveiled in 2023.
