Port of Algeciras nears 4.8m teu handled in 2022
Container throughput at the Port of Algeciras almost reached 4.8m teu in 2022, while overall tonnage was up 3% to 108m tonnes.
Import-export containers were up 7% while rail traffic grew by an impressive 66% year-on-year increase in 2022, representing a total growth of 584% since 2018.
Chairman of the Port Authority of Algeciras Bay (APBA) Gerardo Landaluce outlined some of the landmarks reached within rail traffic in 2022, such as the new mobile box service eon the Straits traffic routes, which is the part of a rail motorway between Algeciras and Zaragoza.
