Porto Itapoá has acquired a new scanner, the first of its kind in Brazilian territory, for inspecting containers entering its yard.
Manufactured by British company Smiths Detection, the new equipment marks an investment of approximately BRL10m (US$1.9m) and is likely to start operating by March.
Sergni Pessoa Junior, Porto Itapoá’s director of operations, environment, and technology, said that it is expected that this new piece of equipment will result in significant gains in terms of productivity.
