Efforts from sea, land and air have helped to put out the fire at the Port of Iskenderun on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, although the damage means the port is not capable of handling ships.
Operations at the port were shut down after a fire broke out amongst containers at the terminal following earthquakes that hit the region on Monday February 6, with more than 11,000 dead in Turkey and Syria.
Turkey’s maritime authority noted that vessels “should head to other facilities” as the port is closed until further notice.
