The automatic hump yard in the Port of Antwerp-Bruges is being operated neutrally for the first time, in a bid to boost rail access.
The Port of Antwerp-Bruges (PoAB), Railport Antwerp, freight carrier Lineas and infrastructure manager Infrabel hope that making the rail facility available to all operators on equal terms will mean trains can be assembled more efficiently.
The neutral management of the shunting plant is part of the sustainable rail vision 2030, developed by Infrabel, PoAB and Railport Antwerp, aiming to double the proportion of freight transported by rail in the Port of Antwerp by 2030.
