The International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 13 union has continued to disrupt operations at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach according to the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA).
On April 7 the PMA reported that the ILWU Local 13 withheld labour that shut down terminals throughout the ports of LA and Long Beach, noting that the union’s “coordinated actions” were occurring as negotiations for a new coastwise contract were ongoing.
However the ILWU Local 13 denied these claims, stating that union members who observe religious holidays took the opportunity to celebrate with their families on April 7 and that its members “remain willing and able to work”.
