Port of Montreal records uptick in cargo volumes after a challenging two years

Following two years marked by downturns in traffic due to the disruption of international supply chains and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Port of Montreal’s saw an increase in cargo volumes across all sectors in 2022.

Container throughput rose slightly by 1.2% year-on-year to more than 1.7m teu and 14.4m tonnes handled.

Martin Imbleau, president and CEO of Montreal Port Authority (MPA), said: “With the end of the health restrictions, we regained a degree of normality.
