Port of Kaohsiung’s fully automated 7th container terminal commences operations

Evergreen Marine Corporation has begun formal operations of Taiwan’s first fully automated container terminal, the new 7th container terminal at the Port of Kaohsiung.

With maintained depths of 18 m and a combined length of 2,415 m capable of concurrently berthing four 24,000 teu vessels, the seventh container terminal’s five wharves are the nation’s largest.

It will also be the first terminal in the nation to install remotely controlled 25-container outreach ship-to-shore (STS) cranes, fully automated driverless transtainers, and smart gate controls in both quay and inland operations areas.
