The World Shipping Council (WSC)’s 2023 Containers Lost at Sea Report has revealed that only 661 containers out of the 250m transported in 2022 were lost at sea.
Representative of less than one thousandth of 1% of containers currently shipped each year, 2022 marks the lowest losses in percentage terms since the start of the survey in 2008.
John Butler, president & CEO of the WSC, said: “The reduction in containers lost at sea in 2022 is positive news, but there is no time for complacency.
