New investments at International Container Terminal Services, Inc’s (ICTSI) facility in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Matadi Gateway Terminal (MGT), are designed to advance terminal efficiency and provide easier access to the Port of Matadi.
Included within these investments are four new hybrid rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, powered by a combination of battery and diesel engine, are the first of their kind in African ports.
Ole Madsne, ICTSI regional head for Europe, Middle East and Africa, said at the machines’ inauguration: “These hybrid RTGs will further improve the terminal’s productivity while emitting less greenhouse gas.
