Port of Antwerp-Bruges has seen a drop in container handling due to the uncertain economic situation, resulting in a 5% decrease to 6.4m teu compared to the first six months of 2022.
The economic situation combined with decreasing industrial and production and low consumer confidence has led to a global slowdown in container transport of 9% in Q1 of this year.
Jacques Vandermeiren, the port’s CEO said: “As with other world ports, the economic situation is still posing major challenges, and this is reflected in the figures.
