The Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners has announced that former US Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard has been elected as its new president.
She and the new vice-president, Diane Middleton, will start their roles on July 27 for a five-year term.
Roybal-Allard was appointed to the five-member board by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass in May 2023 having previously served in the US House of Representatives for three decades and was the first Mexican-American woman to be elected to the US Congress.
