The International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Canada is expected to propose to its members to accept a new labour agreement, days after initially rejecting and bringing an end to strike action.
The package included a compounded wage increase of 19% over four years, improving the median salary to CA$162,000 (US$123,000) from CA$136,000 (US$103,000), not including benefits and pension.
ILWU Canada’s president Rob Ashton announced there would be a Stop Work meeting on July 25, meaning all work between 8am and 4pm Pacific Time will be halted, to recommend the Terms of Settlement to the membership.
