The Ship It Zero campaign has claimed that most shipping lines are not taking the necessary action required to decarbonise their fleets, with carriers over reliant on “false solutions” liquefied natural gas (LNG) and scrubbers.
Researchers produced a report card, which reviewed carriers’ corporate social governance reports and press releases to track decarbonisation commitments and emissions disclosures.
Maersk topped the list of carriers with a B rating while Ocean Network Express (ONE) and Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) received a C rating.
