Hapag-Lloyd and DB Schenker have signed an agreement for emission-reduced transport with a waste- and residue-based biofuel, under a “Book and Claim” chain of custody.
By the end of the year, DB Schenker plans to claim around 3,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions avoidance, based on at least 1,000 tonnes of pure biofuel.
The shipping line launched its Ship Green product in May, which enables customers to add the biofuel-based service to their existing bookings, avoiding CO2e emissions.
