CMA CGM Kaohsiung Terminal has ordered seven Konecranes Noell rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, aiming to streamline operations and reduce carbon emissions at the Port of Kaohsiung in Taiwan.
The hydrid RTGs, which are scheduled for commissioning in Q3 2024 and handover during the following quarter, use a battery for normal operations, adding diesel when more power is required and collecting braking energy to top up the battery charge.
The combination of diesel and electric power reduces fuel consumption and carbon emissions for a cleaner and more economical operation.
