Evergreen Marine Corp. (EMC) has held an opening ceremony for Kaohsiung Port’s Terminal 7, Taiwan’s first automated container terminal, aiming to drive maritime growth in the south of the country.
Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC) was responsible for the construction of the port infrastructure while EMC invested in the operating system and handling equipment including ship-to-shore (STS) cranes, automated rail-mounted gantry (A-RMG) cranes, reachstackers and sideloaders.
The facility is equipped with five berths with a draught of 18 m, a quay length of 2,415 m, and 24 STS gantry cranes, including 19 remote-controlled ones.
