Jaxonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) will use a US$30m cheque it received from Florida Legislators to purchase two new container cranes for the port’s Blount Island Marine terminal.
The new cranes will help increase JAXORT’s cargo handling efficiencies, allowing more cargo to move through the port.
Florida House speaker Paul Renner said: “Our ports must be well-equipped to meet the growing demands of our region, ensuring that supplies make it into the hands of consumers. This year’s budget allocates US$30m for the purchase of two new ship-to-shore (STS) cranes, replacing outdated equipment at the port.
