A new container terminal at Puerto Antioquia, Colombia, has ordered eight Konecranes rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, as it prepares to start up operations to provide new export and import options for the regional and national economy.
The order, which was booked in August, was made by Puerto Bahia Colombia de Uraba, of which CMA CGM group is a key shareholder, for fully electric RTGs powered by cable reels connected to the local grid.
Neil Clegg, Konecranes sales manager, port solutions said: “Konecranes’ Ecolifting effort in the form of these electric, cable reel RTGs is a good fit with the CMA CGM group’s ambition to accelerate the decarbonisation of port terminals on its path to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050 for all its operations.
