Zanzibar Multipurpose Terminal (ZMT), a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics (AGL), has started operations at the Port of Malindi by welcoming the MV UAFL ATHENS container ship and handling over 300 containers.
Under the terms of the partnership agreed in May, ZMT will provide cargo handling and maritime services at Zanzibar’s main port infrastructure, hoping to serve the region’s import and export needs.
AGL plans to invest in the port’s modernisation and development by building an inland container depot outside the port, which will aim to relieve congestion at the hub.
