The leading bidder for the two-year interim contract for the operation of the Port of Itajaí’s container terminal has been disqualified by Brazil’s National Waterway Transport Agency (ANTAQ) due to insufficient evidence it would be able to move 66,000 teu per month.
MMS Empreendimentos LTDA’s proposal was the first choice for the temporary contract on the basis it committed to the largest volume per month compared to the other six bidders who participated in the first public stage of the process.
ANTAQ claimed the company did not demonstrate it could execute its proposal, considering that the figure is is 48% greater than the terminal’s installed capacity under current conditions (540,000 teu per year) and that it presented a 130% higher variation in relation to the average of the proposals.
