The US Department of Energy (DoE) has announced it will award a grant of up to US$1.2bn to a public-private partnership to help the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles’s efforts to grow the green hydrogen market and achieve zero-emissions operations.
The two San Pedro Bay ports are project partners with the aim of advancing the use of hydrogen fuel in goods movement through Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems (ARCHES) funding, which will go to statewide projects.
The funding will aid the deployment of hydrogen fuel cell cargo-handling equipment and mobile hydrogen fuelling trucks or stations in terminals.
