APM Terminals (APMT) Suape has received approval from Brazil’s National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq) to change the facility’s cargo profile, enabling the terminal to operate containerised cargo over an expanded area.
The company will operate the new container terminal, which will have an annual capacity of 400,000 teu, at the Governador Eraldo Gueiros Port Industrial Complex (Suape) in Pernambuco, Brazil.
Construction is scheduled to begin next year and operations are expected to commence in 2026, increasing competition between ports in the Northeast of the country.
