Saudi Global Ports (SGP) has signed an agreement with the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) for a new integrated logistics zone in Dammam and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Ministry of Investment in its efforts to improve the country’s logistics sector.
SGP, a subsidiary of PSA International, and Mawani have agreed to establish a new 1m sq m integrated logistics zone at King Abdulaziz Port Dammam (KAPD), with SGP expected to invest SAR1bn (US$267m) for its development.
The port operator is studying options for bonded warehouses and modern cold store capabilities and there are plans to incorporate sustainability elements, such as hybrid and electric equipment plus solar panels, into the development.
