Brazil’s new minister of ports and airports Silvio Costa Filho has confirmed that the privatisation of the Port of Santos has been cancelled, having been planned under the previous Bolsonaro government.
Instead, Costa Filho hopes to attract private capital to the port through investment via Public Private Partnerships (PPPs).
Upcoming projects include the construction of the Santos-Guarujá tunnel, which will also receive resources from the federal government’s Growth Acceleration Programme (new PAC).
