The World Shipping Council (WSC) has launched the WSC Whale Chart, a navigational aid to help seafarers plan global voyages to minimise the risk of collisions between ships and whales.
Launched at the International Whales Protection Workshop, this aid is the first global mapping of all mandatory and voluntary governmental measures to reduce harm to whales from ships.
Whales inhabit the world’s oceans and spend a lot of time at the surface, making them especially vulnerable to injury from vessels.
