Hapag-Lloyd suffered a 77% decrease in group profit to €3.2bn (US$3.4bn) in the first nine months due to weak demand and significantly lower freight rates for container transport negatively impacting business.
In the same period, revenue has almost halved to €14.1bn (US$15.3bn) and EBITDA has fallen by 73% to €4.2bn (US$4.5bn).
After the acquisition of SAAM in August, Hapag-Lloyd’s business activities were separated into two segments: liner shipping and terminal and infrastructure.
