PSA Halifax has received two new ship-to-shore (STS) cranes for its Atlantic terminal on the south end of the port, enabling it to handle the largest container vessels deployed on North America’s East Coast today.
These new ultra-large cranes will be added to the five existing super post-Panamax cranes at the terminal, which will help to increase its capacity from 1.1m teu to 1.4m teu by the end of next year.
The cranes left Shanghai in early September and arrived at the Port of Halifax after two months of sailing time.
