Mersin International Port (MIP), a joint venture between PSA International, Akfen and IFM, has launched its US$455m East Med Hub 2 (EHM2) project that aims to increase the terminal capacity in Mersin by 1m teu to reach 3.6m teu.
The project includes extending the quay by 380 m to a total length of 880 m, with a draught of 18 m, to allow MIP to handle two ultra-large container vessels (ULCVs) of up to 400 m simultaneously.
Additionally, eight new automated rail-mounted gantry (aRMG) cranes and four ship-to-shore (STS) cranes will be purchased.
