The Port of Valencia has held a public demonstration of its hydrogen-powered Hyster reachstacker and 4×4 Athena terminal tractor, which are the first units of their kind to be used in real operating conditions.
The reachstacker was put through its paces at the MSC terminal, the terminal tractor was tested at Valencia Terminal Europa (VALTE), a terminal of Grimaldi Group, while observers also visited the hydrogen station, which features a mobile part for refuelling.
The Hyster reachstacker is a zero-emission solution that uses a fuel cell from the manufacturer Nuvera to convert hydrogen into electricity and arrived at the MSC terminal for testing in September.
