A group of companies from around the cold chain have formed a coalition to increase the temperature that food is transported at around the world after research showed a 3°C rise to -15°C could reduce CO2 emissions by 17.7m metric tonnes per year, while cutting costs by 5-12%.
The Join the Move -15°C coalition includes AJC Group, AP Moller-Maersk, Daikin, DP World, Lineage, Global Cold Chain Alliance, Kuhne + Nagel, MSC and Ocean Network Express.
The initiative aims to create a just transition, deploying accessible storage technologies globally to freeze food at sustainable temperatures to reduce food scarcity for vulnerable communities.
