The first reefer container to transport avocados from Rwanda has arrived at Avor in the Dutch town of Poeldijk, marking a significant development for the horticultural sector of the East African country, opening trade with the European market.
The container was transported by truck from Kigali, Rwanda, via Uganda to Kenya’s Port of Mombasa, along the Northern Corridor route, which is part of Kenya’s aim to serve hinterland countries of the corridor via the port.
Exporter SOUK Farms received assistance from local IDH experts as part of the Hortinvest programme by the Dutch embassy in Rwanda.
