The Damietta Alliance Container Terminal (DACT), a venture that includes Hapag-Lloyd (39%), Eurogate (29.5%) and Contship (29.5%), has signed the final financing contract for its facility in Egypt, which is expected to go live at the beginning of 2025.
The container terminal will have a total operational capacity of 3.3m teu and construction is underway with the DACT management team already engaged in Damietta.
In addition to the other three partners, Middle East Logistics & Consultants Group and Ship & C.R.E.W. Egypt also hold a 1% stake in the terminal, which will serve as Hapag-Lloyd’s dedicated transhipment hub in the East Mediterranean.
