The Port of Oakland has launched a new smart port system solution and mobile application, hoping to add real-time insight into the movement of goods, thereby streamlining and improving transportation management.
The Freight Intelligent Transportation System (FITS), developed with partners Parsons, Advent eModal and Mobile Programming, combines technologies with the aim of improving the efficiency, safety, operations, circulation and reliability of truck and rail access.
Bryan Brandes, Port of Oakland maritime director, said: “The launch of the FITS is a bold new step for the Port of Oakland. This gives us real-time visibility on goods movement.
