Maersk has altered its OC1 service to utilise the Panama Canal Railway in an effort to safeguard its customers’ supply chains as the Panama Canal continues to face low water levels.
The shipping line’s decision follows evaluation of the current schedule impact from the delays at the Australian East Coast ports coupled with the modifications to the booking process of the Panama Canal.
Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has implemented changes to the booking process in order to control vessel passages through the Canal based on the current and projected water levels in Gatun Lake.
