A drop in transhipment activity caused container throughput at the Port of Dunkerque to fall by 10% last year to 670,000 teu, following 10 years of uninterrupted growth.
Despite this decline, the French port gained market share in hinterland traffic, which was up by 11%.
MSC has recently added Dunkerque to its weekly rotation, connecting the port to various hubs on the West Coast of Africa including Tema, Lomé, Tincan, Apapa and Abidjan, as well as Las Palmas in the Canary Islands.
