AD Ports Group has signed a shareholders’ agreement between its digital arm, Maqta Gateway, and the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) regarding their joint venture company, Maqta Ayla, that will implement a port community system (PCS) at the Port of Aqaba.
Maqta Gateway will have a 51% stake in Maqta Ayla while ADC will own 49%, with the joint-venture aiming to enhance port operations at Aqaba with the PCS, which will also mark the first-ever export of Abu Dhabi’s key port digitalisation solution.
The PCS, which is expected to be operational within 12 months, will aim to facilitate communications and transactions between the Ports of Aqaba, its terminal operators, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), ADC and other stakeholders, in their efforts to streamline services and build efficiencies for Aqaba and Jordan.
