Shipping industry calls for release of Galaxy Leader crew still held captive after three months
The international shipping industry has called for the release of the Galaxy Leader crew who are still being held captive by Houthi rebels, three months after the vessel was hijacked.
The roll-on roll-off (ro-ro) carrier was seized on November 19, 2023, as Houthi rebels dropped onto the vessel in the Red Sea via a helicopter and took the ship to the Port of Hodeidah.
In total, 29 organisations have signed a statement in support of their freedom, including BIMCO, the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and the World Shipping Council (WSC).
