SSA Marine has introduced a 55,000-pound capacity fully electric forklift at the Port of San Diego Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal, the first of six pieces of zero-emissions cargo handling equipment (CHE) that will be deployed over the next 18 months as part of the port’s transition away from diesel fuels.
The Wiggins Yard eBull battery electric forklift is one of the largest zero-emissions heavy-duty forklifts in operation in the US and can lift 25 tonnes.
The forklift is noteworthy for being the industry’s first commercialised large capacity, zero-emissions forklift manufactured in the US.
