Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge collapses after collision with container ship

(02/04/2024) Update: The Baltimore Key Bridge collapsed after the container ship Dali, which was travelling down the Patapsco River on its way to Sri Lanka, suffered a total power failure at 1:24am causing all its lights to go out.

Crew members sent out a mayday call which was responded to less than a minute before impact at 1:27am, allowing officers to be sent to halt traffic onto the bridge.

The ship also dropped its anchors to slow down, buying time to clear the bridge, which helped to save lives.
