The Captain of the Port of Baltimore has established a temporary alternate channel on the main channel in the vicinity of the Francis Scott Key Bridge for commercially essential vessels, as the port looks to get operations up and running following the devastating bridge collapse last week.
On April 1, the Crystal Coast tugboat pushing a fuel barge became the first vessel to transit the temporary alternate channel.
The barge is used to supply jet fuel to the Department of Defense (DOD) and was transiting to Dover Air Force Base.
