Port Everglades has commissioned three new super post-Panamax cranes with the aim of helping the South Florida port achieve record efficiency levels.
The cranes, which measure 53 m high, can reach farther and handle a heavier load, moving containers stacked eight high from a ship’s deck.
In addition, these models can reach 22 containers across the ship’s deck, compared to the port’s seven post-Panamax cranes that are 46 m high and limited to containers stacked six high, reaching across 16 containers.
