Platform operators Portbase and RheinPorts have launched a project to connect the ports of Rotterdam, Duisburg and Switzerland to optimise the flow of data by creating a digital network between the seaports in the Netherlands and inland ports on the Rhine.
The three ports are supporting the project as shareholders and act as ambassadors and the launch of the test phase marks the first practical implementation of the 2022 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ports.
The combination of the Portbase Port Community System (PSC) and the RheinPorts RiverPorts Planning and Information System (RPIS) will aim to improve the efficiency and transparency along supply chains from the seaport to the hinterland.
