The Port of Antwerp-Bruges has witnessed a 6% increase in container volumes to 3.3m teu for the first quarter of 2024, with March recording the best monthly throughput for three years, displaying the port’s resilience despite the weak economic climate impacted by the Red Sea crisis.

Container throughput in tonnes rose by 9% to 36.8m tonnes and total freight volume handled increased by 2% to 70.4m tonnes.
